This sugar-free yogurt pouch recipe is by far the most important thing I have learned since my toddler has started eating solids. Once she weaned off breast milk, she absolutely refused to drink cow’s milk. And I tried everything, all of the different styles of bottles/cups, and even put chocolate syrup in it. Yep, she wanted nothing to do with chocolate milk!!!
Her pediatrician emphasized how important it was for toddlers to get lots of dairy between their first and second birthdays and I started getting nervous. She loved yogurt, which was awesome, but it was SUCH a mess and required a ton of time to set her up, let her eat (which took a long time) and to clean her up. So while I gave it to her as much as possible, it wasn’t realistic for her to be getting enough dairy in that way.
Enter: yogurt pouches! A great way for her to eat her dairy on-the-go whether it be in the living room, backyard, or out and about running errands with me. Except there was a major problem. Many don’t use whole milk yogurt (important for 1-year-olds!!) and the ones that did, almost always contained added sugar. I was NOT okay with feeding my toddler tons of added sugar in her yogurt when she didn’t even need the sugar to like the taste!
I found exactly two yogurt pouch options that used whole milk and had no added sugar. Great! But not great for my wallet. They were about $2 per pouch. If I wanted her eating 2-3 a day that would add up SO fast. So I knew I had to make them myself. And they have been an absolute game changer. My toddler eats two of these sugar-free yogurt pouches each day, getting her necessary dairy allotment and saving me big bucks! The investment of buying the reusable pouches was definitely worth it.
And while this 2-ingredient recipe might not seem like a “recipe”, if you’re toddler doesn’t get enough dairy, then this will be a saving grace for you too!

Ingredients Needed for Sugar-Free Yogurt Pouches
Whole Milk Yogurt: Make sure the yogurt is plain, without any added sugar, and is made from whole milk! Those two things are crucial when picking a yogurt. I love the Stonyfield Organic Plain Whole Milk Yogurt. I buy it at BJ’s to save even more money!
Applesauce: The most important thing here is that you buy unsweetened applesauce. There are tons of options for this
Get creative here! these sugar-free yogurt pouches are the easiest way to get nutrition into your little one’s diet. Blend up some spinach with the applesauce, or use applesauce that already has veggies blended in to make it even easier. Don’t have applesauce? That’s fine, just blend up any combo of fruit that your kiddo likes. Try different combos to see what they like best.

Tools Needed to make these Sugar-Free Yogurt Pouches
Obviously, this recipe requires a very specific tool; reusable pouches! But as a parent of a toddler, I promise you these will be one of the best investments you could make. Kids just love pouches. I love these Haaka pouches because they fit about 5oz. of yogurt, are super durable and easy for the kids to use, and are VERY easy to clean! Which you’ll likely be doing every night once you start making these sugar-free yogurt pouches, so being easy to clean is very important.
I would also make sure you have a straw brush and a good bottle brush in order to clean them.
